Life Stages

From a financial perspective, as we travel along life’s path there are a number of distinct stages that most of us pass through.

In our twenties and thirties, most of us are concerned with establishing and consolidating our careers or establishing a business, protecting our income, purchasing our first home and establishing a pool of funds for our retirement.  Depending on our personal circumstances, we may also wish to ensure we provide financial protection for our families in the event of our incapacity or untimely death.

During our forties, many of us are focussed on our children, making decisions about their education and how to best fund their education expenses.  This can be difficult when there is still a loan outstanding from the purchase of our home.  As we progress through our forties, we will tend to increasingly focus on whether our superannuation funds will be sufficient to fund our retirement.

As we progress through our fifties and sixties, our thoughts become more focussed on our superannuation arrangements and how to ultimately distribute our wealth to our partners, our children and, perhaps, our grandchildren.
